I have a supportive, non-judgmental approach to birth. I became a doula to support women and their families in making their own choices about their birthing experiences—whether that means a totally un-medicated birth or a prescheduled Caesarean section. I believe that a woman should have the birth she wants (whether that includes the use of pain medication or other medical interventions or not). As a doula, I will not judge your choices. I’m there to help you make the best decision for you, your baby, and your family. I am sensitive to the fact that, by hiring me as your doula, you’re letting me in on one of the most intimate and personal experiences of your life. I will work with you, your partner and whoever else you’d like to be present at your birth, to envision your ideal birth experience. We can write a birth plan together, or I am happy to follow one you have already written. I am also there to provide support and guidance in outlining alternatives if changing the birth preference plan becomes the best option for your family.
I enjoy helping people cope with life transitions, including birth. I have attended Birth Arts and received my Birth Doula certificate 2013 and have helped my clients prepare for labor, delivery, and early parenthood. I love being part of the journey to parenthood.
I want birthing women to feel empowered to have natural childbirth. I also want them to be prepared for the various challenges that labor and delivery (and hospital protocol and provider bias) can bring.
